By January 8, 2019 No Comments

In a recent address to the Pan-African Unity Dialogue at Institute of the Black World 21st Century Conference in New York, the African Union’s Ambassador to the USA, H.E. Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, called for closer collaboration between the countries on the African continent and the growing African Diaspora communities in the Americas.

She argued that a fully engaged diaspora holds the key to the future development and empowerment of Africa which, in turn, will result in the greater development and empowerment of the diaspora. She went on to provide a number of examples of the major opportunities for the Diaspora to engage in productive social and entrepreneurial investments in Africa.

The ambassador strongly encouraged the Diaspora to develop a credit union that could amass $1 billion or more in assets as an instrument to leverage investment in business and economic opportunities in Africa.
